A Timeless Wedding on the Lake

I've had the pleasure of knowing Celia since I moved to Port Colborne in 2005. Fast forward nearly 15 years to 2019, when I was overjoyed when she asked me to photograph her wedding! I remember sitting down with Celia and Joe at a café along the canal, excitedly discussing their plans for a June 2021 wedding, brainstorming ideas, and eagerly anticipating their engagement shoot. Little did we know that a global pandemic was just around the corner.
As the months unfolded, their wedding date was shifted, and the vision of a reception complete with all their family and friends was postponed. However, Joe and Celia remained steadfast, celebrating their love on their original wedding date in a beautifully intimate ceremony with family and a few close friends which I gladly was able to capture those precious moments. A larger celebration was planned for September 2022, and that brings us to this post!
The day of the celebration arrived, and it was a stunning early fall day—ideal for capturing beautiful memories. The Buffalo Canoe Club provided a picturesque backdrop with its serene waterfront views and charming architecture, making it the perfect setting for Joe and Celia’s timeless wedding shared with their loved ones.
The day began at Celia's childhood home, just a couple of streets away from where the home I moved into back in 2005 when we met. Surrounded by her mom, bridesmaids, and nieces, Celia prepared for the big moment. They shared a sweet mini reveal in front of the house, a touching prelude to the day's events.
After a short journey to the Buffalo Canoe Club, it was time for the grand reveal—Joe’s first glimpse of his beautiful bride. Although vows had already been exchanged the previous year, Celia’s grandfather delivered a heartfelt faith-based marriage talk, honouring the commitment they had already made to one another.
The reception was a joyous affair, filled with delicious food, heartfelt speeches, and endless dancing. One of the highlights was Joe's mother-son dance. Once dinner and speeches wrapped up, the dance floor remained packed with friends and family celebrating the couple’s love.
Congratulations, Joe and Celia! Your wedding day was a long time coming, and it was a privilege to be part of your beautiful journey.
